St. Petersburg: nature, art, and wildlife encounters

St. Petersburg was a fascinating trip because it allowed us to combine exploring nature with artistic creation, thanks to the collaboration with the Wildlife Corridor Project. The mural we painted, titled “The Path of the Wild”, is located in a highly visible area of the city, and what made this project special was that, before starting the artwork, we were taken to explore the surrounding natural environment.

During the trip, we went kayaking on the Weeki Wachee and had the incredible opportunity to swim with manatees in Crystal River. Florida is a place where nature and city life coexist in a unique way: lagoons, rivers, and wetlands set against urban environments. Painting in St. Petersburg was also very special because the city is a hub for street art, thanks to the Shine Festival, which has been celebrated for over ten years.

To close the trip, we visited the Everglades, an iconic place I love to visit every time I’m in Florida. This time we were lucky enough to see manatees —as well as other species— highlighting the incredible natural richness of the region.
