After his inspirational journey to the Galápagos Islands in 2023, Dulk creates a body of artworks inspired by these islands, where life has taken shape in a way that is unique in the world.

This piece, called The Beagle, pays tribute to Charles Darwin’s historic voyage aboard the HMS Beagle in 1835.

A green sea turtle carries a small theater on its shell, portraying the arrival of Darwin’s ship to the islands. Around it, iconic species like the red rock crab, marine iguana, hammerhead shark, and blue-footed booby highlight both the richness and vulnerability of the Galápagos. Scenes such as an iguana entangled in a net or a batfish “walking” on the seabed symbolize the delicate balance of this ecosystem and the urgent threats it faces today.
