Once, a vast forest stretched across the Iberian Peninsula, covering the land in a dense, living tapestry. Over time human activity has reduced this great woodland to scattered fragments, transforming much of Spain into a steppeland.

In the few remaining forests—isolated and steadily shrinking—survive species that have become trapped in their own habitat. Eagles, Iberian lynxes, badgers, hedgehogs, black storks, and many other woodland creatures struggle to survive within these fragile ecosystems.

Through this mural in Madrid, I sought to give a voice to these often-forgotten animals, bringing their story to the heart of the capital. It is a way to honor their presence and remind us of the rich natural heritage that once flourished across Spain. The artwork invites viewers to take a closer look at these species and the habitats that are gradually disappearing.
