Dulk x Lladró
Here we present two special handcrafted pieces created by Dulk x Lladró, a dreamlike collection inspired by a world of transformation.
This collaboration, marks first Dulk’s foray into porcelain, where he has brought his unique vision to life, inspired by the fragility of nature highlighted by a vibrant imagery, in a new and powerful medium.
Ephemeral Treasures is a composition rich in symbolism. The peacock, with its vibrant feathers full of meticulous details, represents the beauty that nature still preserves, while the hourglass resting upon it serves as a clear reminder of the inevitable passage of time.
The piece, as a whole, is a call to reflection. Through a rich and poetic iconography, Dulk invites us to appreciate the beauty of the natural world and to be aware that, although time moves on, there are still opportunities to maintain and care for those ephemeral treasures that nature offers us.
The creative process
Creating a porcelain piece of the size and compositional complexity of Ephemeral Treasures presents a considerable challenge, especially due to the reduction in size that the piece undergoes during the firing process. Each element has been worked entirely by hand, with careful dedication that brings Dulk’s artistic vision to life.
The peacock’s feathers, with their delicate details and a range of vibrant pink hues specially created, have been etched one by one using techniques that require millimeter precision.
The tiger’s finish, on the other hand, shows in some areas its natural fur while in others it petrifies, capturing a key symbolic transition in the work. Each section of the tiger has been worked with new brown tones, developed specifically for this piece, which add depth and realism.
Soul Rider introduces a central character in Dulk’s artistic universe: a protector of nature and guide for souls in danger. This porcelain creation marks the first time the character is depicted as an independent sculpture, moving from a symbolic guardian in Dulk’s murals to a tangible presence in our daily lives.
“With more or less weight and in different ways, Soul Rider appears in almost all my works. It is a character who guides the souls of creatures often threatened, injured or even dead— to a better world where human impact is not as aggressive or, at best, non-existent. For this special collaboration with Lladró, I found it very interesting to represent Soul Rider in a standalone form for the first time, extrapolating it into a real context so that it can become a part of our everyday lives.”
