I’ve just returned from my first expedition with National Geographic and Lindblad as a National Geographic expert, and I’m still at a loss lost for words after such an incredible journey.

A complete and incredible tour of the wild wonders of Alaska

On the first day, we arrived in Seattle and boarded the ship on the way to San Juan Islands. During the journey, we discovered firsthand the wild beauty of Alaska, from its icy fjords to its breathtaking wildlife. Over 14 days, we explored the Gulf Islands, Alert Bay, Misty Fjords, Petersburg, Tracy Arm, Glacier Bay, Inian Islands, Icy Strait and Sitka, among others. It was a truly comprehensive and awe-inspiring trip!

The San Juan Islands greeted us with a rich tapestry of marine life, including orcas, harbor seals, and bald eagles. In Alert Bay, we delved into the Indigenous heritage of the Kwakwaka’wakw people. The mist-shrouded cliffs of the Misty Fjords and the charming fishing town of Petersburg offered a mix of natural beauty and local culture.

The dramatic Tracy Arm fjord, with its towering cliffs and cascading waterfalls, led us to discover the glacially carved walls. In Glacier Bay, we witnessed enormous glaciers calving from towering ice fields. The Inian Islands and Icy Strait provided exceptional marine wildlife viewing, including sea otters and sea lions.

Finally, Sitka combined Tlingit and Haida culture, making it a fitting end to our journey. This expedition was a perfect immersion into the wild wonders of Alaska and British Columbia, blending nature, culture, and adventure in unforgettable ways.

“From the icy fjords to the breathtaking wildlife, Alaska has truly shown us its magic.”
